Musings Episode 17: Understanding The Unsaid…Body Language and Reading The Air

Rego's Life

Words in my opinion are extraordinarily superfluous. They’re not really how we as humans communicate. It’s been said that 93% of our communication is non-verbal – 38% being vocal (i.e. tone), 55% physical (gestures, facial expressions, posture, eye contact), and only 7% being words to make 100% (check out Dr. Albert Mehrabian‘s book, Silent Messages).

This got me thinking….if the majority of what we say is how we come across physically and tonally – how often is it that people really pay attention to their day-to-day habits?

…and even if people are self-conscious of the way they talk and act – do they really realize how they’re coming across…? I touched on this briefly in both Musings Episode 14 and 16, and thought I’d elaborate a bit further.

“When it is obv…

“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.”

Confucius – China’s most famous teacher, philosopher,
and political theorist, 551-479 BC

I like this quote because rarely is the advice to adjust the steps, but in most instances people are told to re-evaluate their goals.

Power of Words and Detox

imagesyour-words-have-power2

The words “use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love,” taken from Don Miguel Ruiz‘s book the  “The Four Agreements” at first glance for me read as if referring to keeping one’s word.  Then again from another perspective, words create a phrase, making what is “your word”, a type of transmitter of energy.  Hard as it may be to believe, we are all human energy fields, receptors picking up pulses of energy creating feelings associated with words.  So why not use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love, compassion, gratitude, healing or empathy.

We are the embodiment of the Universe

We are the embodiment of the Universe

On speaking of energy, words and their influence on our human energy fields,  I’ve been on my bi-yearly body cleanse or detoxing which is a personal spiritual journey more than a holistic one and to me is like assisting the body in repairing an (aura) electrostatic charge.

In my experience deep body cleansing or detoxing the cells can raise emotional sensitivity so having loving and supportive members that speak kindly of this journey is a plus during the transformation.  It’s like peeling an onion and not knowing why tears are flowing down your cheeks. It’s all poetic in a strange familiar yet unfamiliar way as you learn to relinquish by being gentle on yourself balancing your vibrations.

What is the relationship between detoxing or body cleansing, our cells, and words? Well, according to Dr. Candace Pert, “the chemicals that are running our body and our brain are the same chemicals that are involved in emotion. And that says to me that we’d better pay more attention to emotions with respect to health.”  Does this mean deep cleansing or detoxing the physical body clears the mind? Improved health results higher vibrational energy with less likelihood of speaking words from a level of misery, but instead from a place of calm and peace.

To take the conscious effort to choose our words in speech, or the overall maintenance in detoxing for better health is not a fad, diet or new age way of thinking. I was fortunate to have grown up on an island where as a child when Friday rolled around, it was considered common to be given our weekly herbs for cleansing. We were happy go lucky and healthy.

As in the words of Mastin Kipp of Daily Love – “Universe is defined as Uni=one Verse=song. Together, in all our own unique ways, we are all participating in One Song.”

The Four Agreements

Be Impeccable With Your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Don’t Take Anything Personally: Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

Don’t Make Assumptions: Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

Always Do Your Best: Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

I'm HAPPY! The question is... are you? lol ;)“When you’re Happy for No Reason, you bring happiness to your outer experiences rather than trying to extract happiness from them. You don’t need to manipulate the world around you to try to make yourself happy. You live from happiness, rather than for happiness.”Marci Shimoff,

Finally I’m starting to fully embrace this ‘hey the Universe wants good for you, let me take care of you outlook.’ First The Mind of the Soul by Gary Zukav arrives for me at the library. Next this quote finds me in my inbox. And lastly Sunday I decide, ‘hey today, why don’t you watch Super Soul.’ Who was on the show? I tuned in just in time to watch the last half hour of the interview with none other than Gary Zukav. What snagged my attention most was when Gary pointed out that happiness is attached to the physical world
